Membership Types

Active Membership

This category is available to a person who has obtained certification with the profession's recognized national registry body and is currently employed as a Diagnostic Medical/General Sonographer, Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer, Registered Vascular Sonographer/Technologist or Ophthalmic Sonographer. All active members have the right to vote and hold office.

All Active members must maintain the continuing education requirements required by the registry bodies to qualify for coverage by the CSDMS professional liability insurance policy.

Associate Membership

Associate membership shall be available to those persons who have not met the requirements for Active membership. Associate members are entitled to all benefits of membership except group liability insurance, right to vote or hold office.

Student Membership

A Student Member shall be a person who is enrolled in a recognized full time training program for Diagnostic Medical Sonography. Upon successful completion of training, Student Members shall notify the Executive Director of the Society, and may at that time apply for Active or Associate Membership. Student members are not entitled to vote or hold office.

Chapter Membership

A Chapter Member shall be a non-profit organization whose goals and objectives are similar to that of this Society. This category includes hospitals, clinics, provincial and local ultrasound groups and similar entities.

Corporate Membership

This membership category is for businesses who manufacturer or sell ultrasound equipment, accessories or publications; for continuing education providers; for recruiters, and for institutions providing sonography related education and training.
